A new global skin care strategy is developing at the crossroads of health and aesthetics. Obtaining a cream aimed at equalling the organoleptic properties of a cosmetic formulation using only the ingredients listed in the French Pharmacopoeia represents yet another challenge.

 

Two parameters have been investigated in conjunction with Cargill, a hydrocolloid specialist:

-        The thickness of alcohol solutions containing between 20% and 50% alcohol

-        The improvement in the organoleptic properties of a cream (cosmetic texture).

 

To overcome these problems, Cargill recommends these carrageenans (Satiagum^TM UTC 10 or UTC 30, Satiagel UCT 508), and xanthan (Satiaxane UCX 930), which can be combined to meet the desired criteria (viscosity, transparency, hot or cold processes, etc.).

 

Several initial formulae have thus been developed, which differ in terms of appearance and touch.
