1933 - Incorporation of the company
Léopold Laserson
Léopold Laserson, a chemist fascinated by perfumery, set up "Léopold Laserson" to produce aromatic raw materials. He set up his business in La Garenne-Colombes, in the north-west suburbs of Paris where the perfume and cosmetics industries had grown up, together with their suppliers.
With the exception of essential oils (most of which could only be obtained where they were harvested), the products were all produced internally: resinoids and deterpenated essences, synthetic products, perfume compositions. These are created using distillation and chemical synthesis.
The company soon took off.
René Laserson
1952 : Laserson & Sabetay
Mr René Laserson succeeded his father and went into business with Mr Sébastien Sabetay, a well-known chemist, specialising in the composition of natural perfumes and a former research director at Houbigant. The company changed its name to "Laserson & Sabetay". Whilst maintaining production, the company diversified into import, distribution and trading and moved into Cosmetics and Pharmacy. 1960 : Integrated laboratory
The company was one of the first to innovate by incorporating its own application laboratory offering technical support to its clients. 1981 : Move to Etampes
The company moved to Etampes (45 km to the south of Paris) where it found the space it needed to build modern premises, specially designed for this business. It now had a functional site including offices, a laboratory, production, packaging and storage facilities with the possibility of expanding further in the future.
François Laserson
1985 : Third generation
François Laserson took over from his father. He maintained the traditions of thoroughness and professionalism inherited from his predecessors and added new instruments such as monitoring, quality assurance, computerisation, etc. Without abandoning production, the chosen strategy was to give priority to developing the distribution business, aiming to offer the kind of transparency which would meet clients emerging needs. 1989 : Expansion
1989 saw the construction of a new building, doubling the surface area. 1993 : Laserson Chimie Fine
To celebrate the company’s 60th anniversary, its growth was marked by a change of name and a new logo. 1996 : Commercial development
To offer closer contact with the company’s clients’ needs, Laserson Chimie Fine developed its commercial side.
Separate departments were created for pharmacy and cosmetics so that these industries’ specific needs could be taken into account. 2000 : New departments
The "hygiene & industry" and "nutraceutics" departments were set up to meet our clients’ needs. 2003 : Distribution becomes the priority
2003, our 70th anniversary year, putting the finishing touches to our development. Production, which had become a very small part of our business, was handed over to subcontractors, allowing us to concentrate totally on distribution. 2005 : Creation of a new "food department" encompassing our existing nutraceutical business
